4 week old has reflux

My 4 week old son has reflux.
I didn't know up till now that he has it. About 3 weeks now he always got hiccups (I thought it was because he was cold) at night when I fed him he fell asleep on my arm but once I put him in his cot he was wide awake and started crying. I took him in my arm and he was sound asleep. We (DH and me) thought he is spoiled and just wanted to be in our arms. But it was comforting him because nothing hurt him while being in a more upright position..

Lately he wanted to eat every 1-2 hours. Which normally was every 2-3 hours.
Again I thought it was cluster feeding. But it is now a week that he does it. After each feed I hold him up so he can burp but he starts arching back and cries.

Then I started to read about silent reflux and the symptoms. And my little one has most all of the symptoms.

Last night I gave him after I fed him a little bit of baby fennel tea. And at night when he woke to be fed again a little bit. He slept for almost 6 hours. Which he only does for 2-3 hours

What did you do?

Oh by the way I'm breast feeding..

I took mine to the docs, they prescribed gaviscon (i was boob and bottle) but after 3 days it made it so much worse. He's now on omperazole which seems to have eased it for him.

Oh and rolled up blanket in the crib/basket as a make shift pillow so he was more upright.

And also keeping him at a 45 degree angle after a feed and burp for about 20 mins after.

Well done you on easing it naturally though Grin
