We are 40+ mummies sharing all the highs and lows of our autumn crocus babies. Also sharing tips and information (most crying is tiredness!) and jokes. Please join us!

None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm
You are only young once, but you can stay immature indefinitely
It's sad to grow old, but nice to ripen.

sleep tight (whatever that means?) x

EagleRay · 23/11/2013 23:38

Don't let the bedbugs bite!

(Although it is sprouting teeth rather than bedbugs causing problems here tonight)

GoatBongoAnonymous · 24/11/2013 06:17

Don't let the sprouting teeth bite either. They can be very chompy. I have a nice little half moon on my thigh from yesterday to prove it.

EagleRay · 24/11/2013 06:30

Ouch!

GoatBongoAnonymous · 24/11/2013 17:54

Tonight BG helped make bolognese. He ate half the raw celery, scattered raw carrot with largesse about the kitchen, got covered head to toe with flour, and had a whale of a time. All those cookery programmes are finally paying off!

scarecrow22 · 24/11/2013 20:05

goat lovely image and healthy boy with good chewing jaw....

so hope babies and mums are a lot better now.

Just had a wonderful day with kids: did an underwater scene with paint and bubble wrap and cut out fish and crayons early, dd and dh bought Christmas tree (though now trying to explain why we think she has to wait til Dec 1 to put in the "Dec'rations" Hmm ) then watched Jungle Book DVD, danced, read stories, splashed in bath, read mire stories .... Dancing with them both to Lightening Seeds was a magical moment and I just wanted to live in that place forever, holding that sense of the uncomplicated happiness of being two and literally jumping with joy, while her baby brother burgled and giggled with delight that he was part of it all.
I am though pushing away a sadness that dd will no longer be 2 in four weeks time, and in particular that I have sent her to the childmind for thew days a week when I should have kept her close and treasured every hour of her little life. I guess I could.not have enjoyed Tintin so much, although also deeply regretting having spent too much of the time on my phone when feeding and not simply gazing at him with the love and addiction I feel. It's at times like this I realise too keenly that I will never get that time back

blueblackdye · 24/11/2013 21:09

Scarecrow, so happy you had a lovely week end.
I m heading to bed now collapsing after a very full on week end. Hopefully

blueblackdye · 24/11/2013 21:12

Oups posted to early....
in about 12 months, A will be more independant... !!!
But another part of me does not want her to grow up too fast.

blueblackdye · 25/11/2013 21:25

A has spent all day in my arms, she has runny nose and coughs, did not eat so I gave her lots of water and BFed, any excuse actually to keep her against me!

somewherebecomingrain · 26/11/2013 06:29

bbd sounds lovely though poor A hope she is ok.

Thread has gone super quiet - just in case you didn't know.

Everyone ok?

blueblackdye · 26/11/2013 09:02

Hope everyone is ok indeed. I'm off to some craft shopping, the star did not come out as I thought it would be, too bulky, have 3 days to make a softer one ! Will report later.

blueblackdye · 26/11/2013 09:29

A had a good night, no fever, left her at nursery and prepared to pick her up at anytime. DH dropped DS at school this morning, while tidying up after they left, found out DS' reading book was on his bedside table ! ....

rosiedays · 26/11/2013 10:35

Hi everyone :)
4 month sleep regression. I'm like the walking dead!

Avalon13 · 26/11/2013 11:37

Morning!! How is everyone? I've had a few sleepy evenings and couldn't even be bothered to turn the laptop on. At least it passed some time....I swear time hasn't passed this slowly since I was about 8.

Rosiedays, I feel for you. It must be exhausting having a little one who isn't sleeping. Can you clear a space on the sofa and have a lazy day?

somewherebecomingrain, glad the school gates stuff isn't bothering you. Smile

scarecrow22 · 26/11/2013 13:48

hello. have two and a half hours with no child this afternoon. My weekly dilemma is what to do with it. Almost settled.on sorting laundry and writing along letter to my dh.... It is a nice day for a walk though.....

struggled with mood recently and had bad day yesterday. Improved but shaken. Bit embarrassed to say given I now know some of you, but figure not much point in a support and friendship thread if can't....

rosiedays · 26/11/2013 14:40

Shhh... I'm in babies rus trying out baby walkers. Repeat mantra again. ... I will not buy new plastic. My baby will be kind to the earth and I will not sur come to the power of shiny new pink

Hugs scarecrow. My moods not been great either, early winter blues :( you can always pm if you need to rant/vent. .. have some Flowers and Wine

Hope poely babies and mummies are getting better. Xx

scarecrow22 · 26/11/2013 16:06

don't do it. Seriously....Rosebud will probably love it and you will go mad!! I had wooden walker with wooden.play bricks in it and DD loved that too....okay she ADORED the v Tech one at my sister's house but she still loves me despite the deprivation Wink

GoatBongoAnonymous · 26/11/2013 16:21

VTech is of the devil. Truly. It keeps making random sounds in the middle of the night and scaring the bejaysus out of me. Even when (and this is the freaky bit) it is turned off. Scary stuff.
Scarecrow, Thanks for your bad day. God knows, I empathise. And in the spirit of solidarity, would have to say I have had some pretty horrendous days lately. But we are still here and still have outrageously Un-pc senses of humour. So not all bad.
Hello to everyone else, have to hastily finish what was going to be a luxuriously long post as nearly at tube stop.

EagleRay · 26/11/2013 20:30

Evening - not doing so well here. Thought I was getting better but don't actually feel well for more than a few hours at a time, and yesterday it occurred to me I'm probably v anaemic. Headed down to see GP immediately and he recommended testing for everything going (vitamins, Hb count, thyroid, glandular fever etc). Had the blood taken today and hope to hear in next couple of days.

I'm really falling apart now - pins and needles in hands, horrible scabby bits on corners of mouth, dizziness and no energy whatsoever (had to drive to surgery and it's 2 mins' walk normally). I feel really bad but only way I can survive at the mo is to take those flu remedies that contain all sorts of stimulants as they keep me going for a few hours at a time - just trying to time it so when I bf I'm not feeling the full effects of them!

Job hunt on hold indefinitely - there's just no point, and if I did get a job I wouldn't last a minute. I feel like my mental health as well as my physical health is at stake too, so will focus on getting better for now.

Sorry for whining - I hope I will get my bounce back soon!

Goat you are right re VTech - I don't mind plastic, and I don't mind stuff that plays music but dear god the VTech stuff is atrocious and I just avoid it like the plague now. Impressed by the knife juggling by the way Smile

Rosie I seem to have bought two baby walkers! Have got the standard VTech one (never again) and have also just bought the Moover (Danish wooden one) - bargain at £5 on Ebay! It packs flat so easy to post. Will be interesting to see which one DD likes the most if and when she decides to pull herself to her feet...

Scarecrow did you have a nice afternoon? Glad you are feeling better now after yesterday - you know we are here for you Flowers

Avalon time will speed up soon - I guess you are hitting the 7 week milestone tomorrow? Have you decided yet if you will go for an early scan?

BBD what is this star you are making? Glad to hear A is better now

scarecrow22 · 26/11/2013 20:35

eagle, goat, Rosie - sorry for difficult times. Thanks for support.

eagle sounds like your body is definitely telling you to stop. What nursery care etc have you got organised this week? Do think hard about who youbcan call on - ime people actually like to be asked to help when you really need it.

bbd and others, hope poorly babies better soon

blueblackdye · 26/11/2013 21:09

I don't like plastic either, the walker was real wood, heavy, sturdy and stable, the balance bike is wood too... But friends offer plastic musical toys (they have no kids yet, when they do, they will understand.... Although I like them enough not to torture them by offering anything that doesn't have an on/off switch !)
Scarecrow, same here, big row last evening but I offered peace at lunch time and it was well received and accepted. Feel free to call/pm or stop by if you visit your sister.
Eagle, it is terrible, can your Mum give you a hand during the week until GP finds the right cure for you? Hope Eaglet sleeps better and gives you a rest too. Job hunting is a job in itself. And working... Well, I find I need to have enough head space in order to do so. Atm, I have enough work to pay household bills, it is pocket money really, but I can't see myself taking on more, I might get a bigger bank account but the kids would suffer from the stress. So I don't shop as much as before, I am more careful about grocery bills, planning the week menu also helps !
The star I am making is for DS' nativity play. I made one with cardboard but it was not very nice, shame really because DS enjoyed the painting with brushes and rollers. So I bought a table protector today, cut it to shape and DS painted it using a spray tonight. My kitchen floor is now gold... I should have covered the entire kitchen really. I need actually to go and try again to get rid of it. Well gold and moka, not too bad but I'd rather have my moka tiles back...
Good night everyone

blueblackdye · 26/11/2013 21:16

Oh oh, I forgot to say, I managed to swap days at nursery, so A will go on Mon 9th and be with us on Wed 11th ! Yeah !!!
She has also started her settling in sessions with the toddler room. 30min today, 1h tomorrow and so on. She will be moving rooms on 16th, only 3 months after she started. I am a bit overwhelmed but she looks very happy, confident so why pulling her back ? My baby is no more a baby.
