Pud, I m not comfortable with the idea of you taking magnesium supplements, can you increase fiber and water in your diet instead ? Where you are, you should have access to plenty of delicious fruits with high fiber and water content, melon, watermelon, peach, pear, orange... If you take them separately from your meal, as snacks through the day, it should get you going, for sure ! Who knows if the effect won't transfer through BM ? I remember you said you were drinking lots already, Scarecrow mentioned prune juice to give to babyPud, someone told me her intake of dried fruits has impacts on her baby's digestive system, putting all these together with your massages and leg cycling... This should help babyPud. Really hope she will feel better soon. As for tonight, I would wait for her to wake up for a feed.

LRM did you get some restorative rest ?

A slept a lot today, her temp has gone up and down, I gave Calpol last evening for her to sleep better, but none today, she is absolutely fine, lively, a bit more easily tearful but I think she is just tired, has runny nose, red cheeks, did not eat a lot apart from grapes, yogurt, pita bread, tinned tuna and BM ! Will keep her at home tomorrow all day though to make sure she has all the rest she needs. I won't do much, it won't change from today, I had her attached to my breast from 9.30 to 11.30 and then from 1 to 2.30 and from 5.30 to 7.30 !!! Not complaining, I love to cuddle her and she keeps me warm :)

Xxxx

PuddingAndHotMilk · 04/11/2013 03:54

BBD thanks! I'll see how we get on with me increasing fruit and water and keeping getting water in her. I feel batter than last night as BabyPud slept 11:30-5:30 which is unheard of!! Hopefully reflux and constipation will be better today!!
I hope A feels better today and you got good rest overnight Thanks

sorry, knew that ambitious....

pud (and bbd) to be clear mummy drinks prune juice, not baby. Sorry if I was unclear Blush Blush Blush

bbd hope A better. dd gets "random" temperatures every six weeks or so. It seems to be her 'thing' but she seems good at fighting bugs this way.

Think I was underfunding T. Have upped food and using formula once a day when I remember and he has gone from two night walking to 11 hour straight sleep in just three nights. Please let it not be a fluke

blueblackdye · 04/11/2013 07:13

Scarecrow, my mistake, I thought baby gets the prune juice, sorry for the confusion.
Houray Tom for sleeping 11 hours straight !
A woke up at 5am, hungry, no fever ! My poor downstairs neighbour....
Be back later

PuddingAndHotMilk · 04/11/2013 07:26

Scarecrow. Thanks Wink I'd clocked the prune juice was for me Wink Great news on good sleep!
BBD glad As temp has gone. Is it associated with teething?

GoatBongoAnonymous · 04/11/2013 08:20

Pud hope you had a better night?
Bbd hooray that A is feeling better!
I am so glad half term is over. Sick DH, sick BG, run in with paediatrician, (apparently I am trying to medicalise my child and the letter to the gp said I was worried about 'loose stools', nothing about wind/screaming/sleep/major poonamis everyday... Angry and i ended up having to work two days. Plus I lost it with my FIL finally Blush
Oh well. Onwards and upwards...
Hope you got some rest Lrm.
Tomorrow I will find out when I am working in December so then maybe we can arrange Christmas meet up?

scarecrow22 · 04/11/2013 09:26

goat so sorry about pediatrician - did you resolve it with them?? Do these people have no bedside manner Hmm let alone compassion and listening skills? Do keep us posted as it sounds just awful for you
Sorry too about FiL. I finally cracked with MiL in May and fear it will be along time until things are back to warm relations, if ever, but I go through the motions and that seems to suffice for now, and as long as dc don't puck up in it then always should. Shame though. Maybe it will clear the air

EagleRay · 04/11/2013 10:56

I feel so sorry for you Goat, speaking as someone who has had many a run-in with the medical profession (had a ghastly consultant who said really offensive things to me, plus recently DP was misdiagnosed by GP when he was seriously ill). Re FiL, was just thinking about Scarecrow when I read that and can see she has mentioned it too - really feel for both of you! A friend of mine is having similar problems with wind/screaming/vomiting and it's so bad their 9mo DD can't have any food whatsoever. They've been going backwards and forwards and have now found a consultant paed themselves and asked the GP to do a referral asap. I feel so angry for you all that problems aren't taken seriously.

Your holiday sounds like it's going very very well Pudding! Good luck on getting the constipation resolved - and wow re the 6 hour sleep!! When DD was around the same age we were on holiday and she slept through the night a couple of times. We were really [shocked] and spent most of our time awake wondering why she was asleep!

BBD I think DD and A have been colluding this morning as she woke up at 5am too. Took her into my bed and fed her and fed her, then hoped she would go back to sleep but no. While I lay there, she poked me in the eye, pinched me and stuck her fingers up my nose. Then started crying when I ignored her. Eventually she went back to sleep in her cot and then I woke up after 8am and so we were late for nursery - bah!

LRM great to hear from you - hope things are better soon

DD started crawling yesterday - it's a funny backwards, bum-in-the-air shuffle, but while DP's back was momentarily turned, she managed to travel across the room and ended up wedged underneath an armchair. She's starting an extra nursery session this week, taking her up to 2 half days a week, and meanwhile I'm getting on with my slightly futile job search. Totally out of cash now so will be remortgaging a bit to tide me over. The job situation is causing me a fair bit of anxiety (getting a job is bad enough, but then the practicalities of actually doing the job are v scary). Have decided not to try and push things too much (was getting wound up by applying for things and then not hearing anything back) and am going to focus a bit more on getting some new qualifications instead.

brings back fond memories of my travels through South America and meeting Young Enrique

blueblackdye · 04/11/2013 14:20

Get the phone out Scarecrow and post pics to us !

GoatBongoAnonymous · 04/11/2013 18:31

Scarecrow, I NEED that emoticon!! Yes, I thought of you during all the IL shenanigans, and felt a little comforted by the thought of a comrade-in-arms (sorry, still Sad that it happened for you).
Trouble is that BG looks fab most of the time, happy, affectionate, bright and curious, not to mention tall! So the paed looked at him and thought, well he looks great! Which h does (hmm, and might that be down in part to the hysterical mother? Hmm ) and I think the best quote from the paed was, "tell your childminder she needs to have him in a routine." Wtf?! I told my lovely cm that and she fell about laughing, then said, "oh damn, do I have to stop watching telly all day with a fag hanging out of my mouth, and drugging him whenever it suits me for him to sleep?"
Well gp on Wednesday then we might try a private paediatrician.
Eagle, the backward crawling sounds very cute!!
Scarecrow, I too want pictures...

GoatBongoAnonymous · 04/11/2013 18:41

Oh god, that was a bit of a ramble, sorry Blush

Goat. Sorry the medical professionals have let u down. Why dont you tape baby goat screaming for them to hear. Make em listen to him as long as you do and maybe they wont be so dismissive of you.
Bhb. Glad a is on the mend. And wow power boob feds she is a good girl
Eagle. Yeh for crawling so exciting. Dylan is cruising now on everything he can but nervous to stand unaided lets out a little squeal to say scared mummy. He has climbed 13 steps and put a lid back on my Egyptian jug so very proud of him. Took him to nursery and no tears when I left today so he is settling in fine. He hates his high chair so we got rid of it and he eats in his snug seat and we bought a coffee table sawed the legs down and he has it with his plate on. Mr independent with eating. Will take pud off a spoon but wants to do the rest. Loves fish fingers sausages pizza chicken pasta waffles and veg. He's a little star. Very mummys boy crys when he wants cuddles which is often.

scarecrow22 · 04/11/2013 20:14

no photos today, ladies. Sorry. Where is Eagle when you need her, eh?

So.my, er, best moment today was holding an OT crying T, heating the rice pudding and DD hopping on and off potty saying "my poo poo won't come out" (weeping sorted, pooing hard, thanks whoever asked): then T is sick.over my new jumper and dd finally sits.on.potty so I.go.to.her and then the rice pudding catches and burns so I yelp and dd cries and T is sick.again, then.I see DD is squatting on floor to.poo so rush over, pick.her up to put her on potty, poo falls out and I step in it.

go on, laugh at my expense Wink

What makes me laugh is a lovely neighbour who said the other day: are you really okay because you always look so composed and calm and I can believe it is that easy. Ha, ha

scarecrow22 · 04/11/2013 20:15

weeing is hard; and my neighbour can't believe it is so easy....

blueblackdye · 04/11/2013 21:30

Scarecrow :) Wine

GoatBongoAnonymous · 05/11/2013 08:22

Scarecrow I only laughed in that hysterical cackle of realisation that I have it all to come way...

How exciting that Dylan is on the move! Get ready to childproof...

And in truly exciting news. BG slept without a peep till 3:15, then again till 4:30, then came in with me and actually managed another 45 minutes before attempting to hurl himself over me head first onto the floor! Maybe we have turned a corner... buries head in sand

bytheseaside · 05/11/2013 09:24

morning all, long time no see!! i have been missing in action in world of teething, bugs and pseudo - singlemotherdom as dp still ill. tried to catch up with thread this am as babyseaside still asleep but its a hopeless task ... so let me know if I've missed crucial stuff, im just going to jump back in. im letting her sleep on me as she has mmr in an hour and im feeling so guilty about it :-( she may be having her first chocolate buttons today, its traditional, right? i will need some too obviously.
Think there are new fab 40s mums since I've last been on so: im 41, dd 13mo. god, I've missed chatting here, just never get time. must stop washing up.

blueblackdye · 05/11/2013 20:22

Seaside, welcome back ! So sorry to hear DP still ill. It must be so hard for you. We are here if you ever feel we can cheer you up. We missed you too. How is DD after her jab today ?
Childproofing, LRM, the only safe place for A is her cot. And she does not want to be in it if she is awake. Otherwise she climbs everywhere, pushing stools to the bed to get on it, her big bro's highchair to look ot of the window.... A playpen would be a good item, DS had one and used it to learn walking as I did not attach it, but I don't have the space anymore !

littleredmonkey · 05/11/2013 20:38

Scarecrow. Shouldn't laugh but did thanks for the tale

Bhb. Good Dylan a travel cot. Getting use to being in it on occasions. He prefers to be on the move

Goat. Glad m had a good sleep you all deserve one

Bythesea. Lovely to see you

Decided today public transport sucks. Perials of village life. Bloody sending old buses you can't get a pram on. Rang local depot to complain. Dumb ass on the phone was about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Resolve buy little car no bus issue again

EagleRay · 05/11/2013 23:40

great to see you back here Seaside! Hope the MMR went ok today. This afternoon, we had a stop-off at the museum cafe for tea and cake, and DD sat next to me on the sofa like a grown-up. I thought of you as know how much you like it there!

LRM public transport does indeed suck! Possibly a useless suggestion but would using a sling work? I'm v lucky in that DD's nursery is only 600m from the house and most days I use a sling to cart her there and back. On monday I put her on my back for the first time - she felt lovely and light! I've also started putting on my running gear for the nursery run and managed a quick jog around the local meadow before heading home. Although clearly won't be doing that when I start work!

Scarecrow you have awesome parenting skills! (being able to laugh at yourself after stepping in the runaway poo counts as awesome)

Off to bed now. Last night DD managed an epic 12 hours of undisturbed sleep but doubt she'll do 2 nights in a row. Wondering if last night's sleep was helped by an extra cover on her bed.. Anyway, fingers crossed it's a peaceful night for everyone!

GoatBongoAnonymous · 06/11/2013 00:12

Eagle could your DD have a word with BG please? Two solid hours screaming so far Confused . I knew I shouldn't have rejoiced quite so quickly last night.

Hello seaside, lovely to see you! I promise I will phone you one day, when my brain returns from looking longingly over the fence at dreamland.
