Nits- Attack, attack or wait and see?

Spent most of the weekend with our cousins who have just told us they have the nits. Can't see anything on my two DC. Do I apply a treatment anyway or wait and see? I don't want them spreading it around the school. TIA.

I would wash and condition your dcs hair and fine comb with a nitty gritty comb tonight and in a few nights then again next week. Nothing on the comb and you're ok but if you see ANYTHING I would get the hedrin out and use that plus more combing. Combing works as well as anything. Stick a dvd on and sit them in front of that and you can do it for hours. Grin Pick one you like too......

Thanks Northern. Is that the brand of the comb? And do I leave the conditioner on?

Yes, NittyGritty is a brand name of a comb.

Leave the conditioner in whilst you are combing.

Only use anti-nit treatments if you actually find any of the little blighters.

Keep combing ever couple of days for a couple of weeks. The eggs are very firmly cemented on to hairs, so it's possibe to miss them even if diligent. So you need to get the hatchlings as soon as they emerge.
