Best presents for 4 year old?

DD will be 4 a few days before Xmas, so starting to think about presents for both occasions. Just wondering what your 4 year olds play with the most / what has gone down well as presents / been good value for money?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Bumping as my DS will also be turning 4 nine days before Christmas and I haven't a clue what to get for him!

CatL · 01/10/2013 10:56

Bump again - someone out there must have a four year old who likes something!

DD is 4.3 and likes (in no particular order)

Octonauts
Lego
Dolls
Pretending to be things - usually doesn't need much apart from imagination but she does make good use of her doctors bag.

We already know she wants more Lego and some Octonauts stuff for Christmas - she has worked out that Father Christmas isn't real and I think she thinks we're less organised than him so she's given us plenty of notice.

Ah yes - another vote for Orchard Toys. Some of them are very similar though (Lunch Box / Tummy Ache and Spotty Dogs/Ladybirds for example) so choose carefully :)

Ds4 is into playmobil, happy land and his sister's Barbies!

Ok, thanks all -glad we are on the right lines with lego, which DH is very keen to get.
Lots of other good ideas there too.

Marble run
Playmobil
Brio trains, track pieces, etc.
Orchard Toys (DS loves his giant road jigsaw)
(Octonauts) snakes and ladders
Toy food, money and till
....

My ds, 4 today, loves playmobil figures or Lego. He plays with them for hours, making up little stories etc.
He also likes play-doh (it gets incorporated into his imagination play), painting, drawing and reading.

SpottedDickandCustard · 01/10/2013 21:42

DS is now 6 but his faves at 4 were:

Imaginext (his favourite by a mile)
Octonauts
Lego
Bike (we got him one without stabilisers which he rode on his 4th BD)
Mini micro scooter

Get them a Nintendo DS with animal crossing wild world if you can read with her or get a wii U the DS is portable while wii U is stationary I recommend Pikmin 3 on it or a normal wii which you can get all sorts of motion games on.
