aldi nappies - question

beachesandbuckets · 25/09/2013 03:39

Used these for my twin babies when newborn, size 1 and 2 great til outgrown. Attracted by cheap price given the number of nappies we are going through.

Babies now 11lb each and have moved up to size 3. Nappies have leaked each night (despite me putting clean ones on at 10pm) and babies have woken up wet. eeeek. Has this happened to anyone else. Where else can I get cheap nappies from - are Lidl's the same?

We use cheap nappies (asda) in the day and pampers at night. Alot of my friends do the same.

karatekimmi · 25/09/2013 04:07

Yes, we use the Aldi nappies during the day, and pampers at night. Haven't found any cheap nappies that cope all night.

SchrodingersFanny · 25/09/2013 04:11

I've always used aldi nappies at night no problem. Have you tried the next size up?

I've always used aldi or asda nappies and they've never leaked at night (maybe once or twice due to a diarrhoea explosion I suppose). I've been given pampers by friends and found that leaked more. As other poster says, I'd try the next size up as other difference is so great.

heymammy · 25/09/2013 07:11

Tesco's own brand nappies haven't leaked on me day or night and really aren't much more costly than Aldi, I get two big packs for £10. I have hated every pampers nappy I've tried, they always seem to leak and are too fooking expensive as well!

stowsettler · 25/09/2013 09:13

I always use Aldi too, night and day. No problems here, except when DD started getting too big for the size. We moved up, no problems.

TheYamiOfYawn · 25/09/2013 09:20

Only leaks with the wring size here, too.

MummyCoolski · 25/09/2013 09:33

I think you have gone up from size 2 too quickly. Loose leg holes will cause leakage. Size 2 goes up to 13lb, so if dts are 11lb they should be fine. Size 3 goes up to 20lbs so probably too loose on an 11lb baby unless they have very chunky thighs.

absentmindeddooooodles · 25/09/2013 09:35

I use tjese nappies. Ds is 2.6 and sorry, but pees for england in his sleep. I put him in a size down from whatI usialy would with other brands. He is a size 6 in pampers, tescos etc, so I pop a size 5 on him and they work perfectly. Never had a leakage. :)

MrsSpencerReid · 25/09/2013 09:38

I use aldi, day and night with no leaks, I'd try the smaller size again, DS who is almost 18m is only in size 4!

MrsBucketxx · 25/09/2013 09:39

Sounds like the nappy is too big. Try size 2. I use day and night no probs at all.

mum23girlys · 25/09/2013 09:40

Hi I agree with mummycool I think you've gone up a size too soon and the leg holes are just too loose. I'd try going back to size 2 for a few days and see how they go.

Zara1984 · 25/09/2013 09:42

We use Lidl nappies - previously for both night and day but then DS started soaking through. Agree with collective wisdom that nothing beats Pampers at night!

I always buy a big pack when supermarket are doing specials, or on Amazon.

angeltattoo · 25/09/2013 16:14

If you do try pampers overnight, make them pampers babydry.

We get over 12 hours with no leaks overnight from them.

Zara1984 · 25/09/2013 20:53

Y Y to pampers babydry

HadALittleFaith · 25/09/2013 21:03

I think Asda Little Angels dry night nappies are as good as Pampers baby dry for overnight (and a lot cheaper!).

Fifi2406 · 25/09/2013 21:05

I always used pampers, they started leaking every night switched to asda and can't fault them maybe 2 leaks since we switched and its been months! Think they are brilliant! Don't think they are as cheap as Aldi ones but still good value

MiconiumHappens · 25/09/2013 21:06

ASDA or Sainsburys own brands are both very good.

dizzy77 · 25/09/2013 21:09

We're mixing it up a bit with Aldi, pampers and tesco on 16wk 13lb DS2. He's in pampers size 3s at the mo & we've had a couple of leaks lately at the end of a long night (12hrs or so) when the nappy is full of wee then he has a wet teething-y poo.

Will try the Aldi tomorrow and see if they're any better.

MyNameIsAnAnagram · 25/09/2013 21:13

I agree with pps, at 11lb ds was still in a size 2 aldi nappy. They are the only ones I buy as I think they are by far the best. They contain ds2s early morning (5.30) mega poo when pampers don't.

beachesandbuckets · 25/09/2013 22:27

That's great, thank you everyone. Size 2's aldi's were causing leakages, hence the move up to size 3 despite babies being 11lb and 8wks. Size 3's were ok last night, I think leakages were caused by big cluster feeds in evenings which will hopefully die down as babies get older. Unfortunately no Asda near us, but if problems continue will try Sainsbury's own brand. Thanks for all the tips!

Or pampers babydry!

We've got on really well with Just 4 Bums nappies from Kiddicare. My DS wears size 4 day and night and we've not had a problem (He is only 5 months but weighs 20lb!). They are £20 for a "month supply" box. They'll swap unused packs (4 packs in a box) if the baby goes up a size.

Also Cheeky Bots from Tesco which seem to be the same nappy and are regularly discounted to the same price.

Belvedere · 25/09/2013 23:01

My lo is 11lbs and still on size one Aldi nappies and never had a leak. I'll probably go up to size two on the next packet but I think you have gone up too soon and they are too big. Loving them so far!
