Hi,
I am expecting my second baby soon and have decided to use reusable nappies and wipes. Was just wondering if any of you have your own nappy wipes solutions and what you use?
Thanks all!

I don't use reusable wipes, just cotton wool and water but I had planned on using chamomile tea when ds has nappy rash...he's nearly 11months old and has never had it! So could you just use them with water? Where do you get them btw? Sorry if a little hyjack.

I have had some off ebay, but the nappy lady does some and you can just cut up some terry squares and make your own.

yes water is enough for most purposes. sometimes when pooey or stiky I rub a little ordinary soap onto the flannel (I find they're better than wipes), but that's it.

when i started off i used to make lovely wipe solution with cold camomile tea, two drops of lavender and a squirt of baby oil and pour it over a plastic box of wipes

ha! now they just get run under the tap

I have always used washable wipes and tap water. It does the job and is the easiest thing going. In the summer (on summer born DS) I just used water from the bottle I had in my bag for drinking for emergency changes!

i have always used washable wipes (and cotton wool for when i have not got the washing done quick enough) and water....
just to butt in on your thread does anyone know if you can buy 'pull up' style washable nappies... ds is very anti lying (and standing) still for a nappy change right now and when staying at my grandads recently i took some pull ups to make life easier (oh god they were easy!!!).... pull up washables would be really helpful!

Does anyone have a link for the washable wipes? Sorry janemw.

Plain water is generally all that's needed.

Alternatively you can dissolve a tablespoonful of honey in a jar of chamomile tea. I've never had problems with it going off, in hot weather I'd keep the jar in the fridge and pour a cupful every day to keep by the changing table.

If rash is bad, then add a spoonful (sorry, can't remember whether tablespoon or teaspoon, but it's approximate in any case) of olive oil to the jar, and give it a good shake before using it each time.

IIRC, Motherease can be set to size and pulled up and down like pullups. I can't off hand remember the name of the style, but it's the shaped nappies that lie flat when opened and are closed with poppers. They also do an all-in-one, but I've never tried it.

I run a facecloth under the tap for a wee, and if it's a poo I run it under the tap and then squirt diprobase on it.

A mug of strong camomile tea and a few drops of evening primrose oil. Change every 2 days. Water when out.

Jollyfolly, Motherease Sandy's (or Toddleease for 35 lb+ can be used as pants on wrigglers...know this from bitter personal experience (she said, wiping pooh off the floor again )

That's great, thanks all of you, have also been looking around the web an d came across some small bits of soap you can dissolve in warm water. I shall find out the web address and post it on here.

We just use plain tap water, keep a pot on the change table with a cm or 2 in in. dunk and squeze wipe before using.
