Would you hire an entertainer or set up toys for this party???

DD is turning 1. We are having a party at a restaurant where they'll set up a kids tea etc and will clear out the conservatory for games / toys / an entertainer. We have a mixed age group of kids who would come- about 15, only 4 of them are 1+, most are around 2.5-4, and a couple are 6-7. I have no idea what to do to keep them entertained! Should I set up some toys? Or hire an entertainer? We also have a lot of friends who don't have kids so can't have the party at a soft play / dedicated kids venue. Help please!!

Yes I would get an entertainer. Maybe magic?

Entertainers only good with 4+ age group, littler ones don't really concentrate. Though you can get some which do preschoolers - like a sing and sign type thing.

I would go with putting toys out, especially ride-ons, maybe a paddling pool with balls. All you biggest most colourful and nosy bits of plastic. For the older ones have an art table, or a simple craft activity (see Baker Ross for ideas).

Pass the parcel is popular with most age groups, though is token for babies. You could also play musical status/bumps easily for wide age range, most kids like to bounce around to a bit of music.

Have fun!
