I bought DS this wooden trike which has been fab. It's still in use now and DS is 3.3! Also still looks as good as new despite heavy use so will be passed on to his sister, and hopefully down to cousins etc after. Really nice thing to keep as well as use but is expensive. At 1 he needed help to use it, by 18m he was bombing round.

DS got the toot toot garage and cars he loves it will play with it for ages at first he just pressed the buttons but now he's 19mo he's using it withe the cars, DNeice is 6 and plays with it too. It's very noisy with the garage and cars all singing but the kids love it so I don't mind

I'm wondering the same thing! I'm umming and arring over building blocks and a Brio starter train set that can be added to as he gets older. Does that sound suitable for a one year old?

Mine loves rattles and drums, in fact anything you can bang or shake.

I would have thought Brio was more likely to get chewed at this stage rather than played with, but it can be grown into so never a bad idea.

How about a walker with a set of wooden building blocks in it? Two things in one! Brio is awesome but he probably will just chew it at the age of 1yo. My ds1 got his first brio trainset at 2yo I think, and we have slowly added to it since. Dd2 (11mo) pulls up the track and chews the ends. Mega Bloks do some great toys for lo's. I've bought dd2 a princess carriage for her 1st birthday next month, which she'll love. It's colourful, moves along, and has a pony and a princess that she'll love to chew and are safe for her to do so! Might be worth having a look at the boys or unisex toys they do? Ds1 had a ride-on fire engine for his 1st birthday which has given years of use and fun but it took a few months before he was able to ride it by himself. His Fisher Price garage was a winner at that age though.

dd got the elc whizz around garage for her first birthday. She is nearly 3 and still plays with it every day, as does ds who's just turned 1.

DS got a smart trike and he loves both being in it and pushing it around, he is now 16mo.

Tony hide n squeak eggs. Fab!

A plastic drum filled with bell things, shakers, sticks, a wee xylophone etc. Dd loves hers, not only the actual toys but taking them all out and putting them back in again.
