How can I get my 6wk DD to take gripe water???

My DD is sufering from chronic wind that she enerally can't burp up? It eventually comes out as a parp after much writhing and pain.

I attempted gripe water, which worked miraculously the first time. However, she now won't take it. I use a little syringe which we got from the hospital. and she just spits out the water, or pushes it out with her tongue. Its the only thing that has worked for her.

she is BF but uses nipple shields as she can't latch on properly. Any tips on how to get her take it and swallow it? I need your help....

When my DD was on gaviscon I found if I lay her on my lap with her feet touching my tummy I would control her head with one hand. Tip her head slightly back and then slip the syringe in aiming for the inside of her cheek.

Then I'd stroke her throat to get her to swallow and pop her quickly on the boob.

I'm struggling with my 17 week old. Definitely having her upright in seated position helps. Sometimes giving it to her just after she's woke up in the morning helps, as she's still a bit dazed and less likely to play games Grin

Have you tried a few different positions for burping? Holding baby sitting on your knees and rubbing/over shoulder/tipped forward/backward etc.

There are different things that work for different babies it seems...

Thanks MNers. I've tried various burping positions, she just refuses to burp!! Anyway, I googled and found a top way of giving her the gripe water. Basically, the bottle set that i go tfor expressing into, I just prepare the teat/lid, dispense 5ml into the teat an dhten put th cap on. I suppose bottle would work equally well, but its just easy and she gulps it down. Its a winner for me!
