Hi all,

DH's b'day is coming up and I wanted to book a surprise getaway for his b'day weekend - preferably a baby (DS is 1 yo) friendly BnB. Don't want to drive a lot to get there - not more than 2 hours...

On the same note, can someone also recommend a travel cot - will need one for DS when we go away...

TIA :)

Depends how much you want to spend. Babyfriendlyboltholes are pretty reliable but pricey. May give you some ideas.

I'd recommend Bath. Can you travel light and take the train? Bath is all walkable, lots of baby friendly cafes, nice shops, sights.

whereabouts are you? Two hours from where is what I mean Smile Dorset is lovely - I know a fantastic pub with about 5 rooms where you can put baby to bed and come down to the bar for dinner and great beer, real fire etc. Its tiny, monitors work etc. As for travel cots, they are much of a muchness really - for occasional use only I wouldn't spend too much but maybe take a bit of extra padding for the mattress (a blanket or thin quilt under the sheet helps make them more comfy)

New Forest? And we have the John Lewis travel cot, £59 I think it was. Liked it so much we have a spare at MIL's too.

But the bigger sized travel cot. It will last until he is 3 or 4 and afterwards you can put a proper cot mattress in it for when friends with babies come and stay.
Ours has been going for 15 years, it's from Babydan and looks like new.

Hi NewBlueShoesToo .. is this the one you have? www.johnlewis.com/babydan-travel-cot-blue/p231249123#tabinfo-ratings

It has a maximum weight limit of 13.6 kgs... will it really last till DS is 4 ?!?
