What's up with my 11 week old?

Since friday (last 4 days) Dd has gone from a calm, happy baby to a cranky, clingy, sleepy alien of a baby.

She was starting to sleep through the night but this is changing. She hasn't had a lot to eat today 3 5oz bottles in last 12 hours. She cries, fusses and wants to be held a lot. She's flat out on me now but if I put her down all hell breaks out.

If she was feeding more I'd think growth spurt, but she's not. I'm so tired and I'm finding my PND is becoming harder to manage.

What is going on with her?

It could be the start of teething - not that she's likely to cut a tooth for a few months but they can start moving around and giving them a bit of pain. Is is she trying to chew on things and drooling, that sort of thing?

My six month old has had three teething episodes so far and they're awful! (still no teeth btw).

It could be developmental? According to Wonder Weeks, all babies go through developmental stages at the same ages - they just do slightly different things as thru are individuals. I just checked back on DS's chart and 11 weeks is smack back in the middle of a cranky period. It's "smooth transitions" apparently. I do t know how much stock I put on it, but he definitely corresponded in mood with these charts.

Poor things, both of you. It's no fun for anyone when your baby is all out of sorts. Do you have/ could you try a sling for the temporary Velcro baby? 11 weeks is so tiny still. Remember - this too shall pass.

I was going to say a wonder week too. Do you have an iPhone? Get the app, it is very good. I have a 12 week old and we had a grumpy week last week too.

I echo teething. My little girl has been doing that since around 3 months and putting things in her mouth. Her teeth are nearly through now at 5 1/2 months but not quite yet. Maybe a week or two more, hopefully. She does stick things in her mouth a lot and will even try and chew clothes, want to sleep but only when I am right there with her and with let out a little cry all of a sudden, then smile a few seconds later as if she doesn't remember what was bothering her.

If I does concern you though, do contact your HV as they can have a look at her and see if they think she may have something else wrong, but it really does sound like she's beginning the early stages of teething to me.

I forgot about wonder weeks. Maybe your right. Yes she is dribbly and has her fist in her mouth a lot. I did ask health visitor who said it was developmental not teething.
