My little boy is 21 months and we have been training for a couple of weeks and he is really good, maybe one accident a day while we are in the house. It is just about when they are physically and mentally ready. We found out by accident when we were having a few nappy free days to heal a sore bum so we introduced a potty just to see, didn't push him into it at all

That is really good :) bet you are proud of him, me and my partner are thinking about trying for another baby, my dd is 10 months ATM and was just thinking of by the time we have another would she be potty trained

I agree, it's totally dependent on the individual child. Some are ready really early, whilst others need longer. From my very limited experience of 2 boys, one was just over 2.5 whilst the other was nearly 3. The first one was accident free within a couple of days, but the second one took a bit longer.

I suggest waiting until she shows an interest and then giving it a go. If it doesn't work out just leave it a while and then try again.

she might be nearly ready, I think between 2 and 3 is the norm (from what I have seen) with girls being a bit better than boys in general. Would you want her trained before the baby was born or do you not mind having two in nappies?

Jemmablack86 · 16/09/2013 15:35

Yes I agree every child different, she is very forward and has walked since 9 months old, we are hoping to have another by march this year so I think she will be potty trained by the time next baby has arrived thanks for your advice

I wouldn't mind bit obviously it would be a lot easier if she was potty trained by then, but I suppose like you said it's wen they are ready, us mommies have to plan forward lol

I got a potty when DS was 17 months and have just had it sitting in the livingroom sometimes he sat on it but never done anything, sat night he sat done and done a poo in it and has been weeing in it since then, i'm in no rush so we are just having no nappy in the house and once he's good at it in the house we will move on.

If the childs not ready it will just be a nightmare

lola88 · 16/09/2013 20:02

oh and I only got a potty when DS was asking to sit on the big toilet

Jemmablack86 · 16/09/2013 21:49

I have a 20mo he wouldn't know what to do if he was nappy free other than to dance in his own wee Grin he's no awareness of what his potty is and is so far off training but I'm not bothered as dreading the whole process.

Jemmablack86 · 17/09/2013 07:03

??That is so funny! Dance in his own wee! Lol I'm sure he will adjust wen he is ready think you have the right attitude for it all :)
