Moving from moses basket to cotbed to possible own room?

How old were your babies when they outgrew their moses baskets? Did you move them into a cot/cotbed instead (still in your room) or move them straight into their own room in a cot/cotbed?

My little baby is looking a bit chunky in her moses basket but can't imagine her not being in the same room yet!! Her cotbed is all built in the next room so not really moveable

Dd was 8 weeks when we moved her out of her Moses basket - she was too long for it already and was rocking the stand too much by wriggling! We've moved the cot into our room now so she sleeps in there, will keep her in with us til 6 months or so. We're lucky to have the space in our room - we do have friends who had to move their dc's from Moses basket in their room to cot in nursery. How old is your dc?

She's almost 10 weeks

Ah I think she needs moving then, I was just watching her on the monitor and she's wriggled herself awake and it is very, very wobbly lol.

I think we just about have space but it would be by the window and radiator, bit chilly/potentially too hot? And it would be a dismantle and rebuild jobby.

We used a travel cot for DS once he was too big for Moses basket. We didn't have enough room for his cot in our room but found that the travel cot was slightly smaller. We figured we would probably buy one at some point anyway for trips away. Just an idea if you don't fancy dismantling.

We had ds in his Moses basket for just 6 or so weeks. He was quite big and grew really quickly so got too big for it. Then one night he had a poo explosion all over it so we had no choice but to put him into his cotbed in his own room as our room at the time was too small (didn't co-sleep, lots of reasons). At 15 months, with dd due to make her arrival, he moved to a toddler bed without issue, apart from refusing to stay in it for naps (so I countered that by strapping him into the pushchair instead).

Dd arrived, she was smaller and grew more slowly so stayed in her basket until 4 months, then into the cotbed in our room (we'd moved by then so had a larger room) until she was almost 6 months. We got fed up of having to creep about and waking her with every noise and movement so shipped her out to her own room. She now (mostly, unless she's ill, teething or cold) sleeps soundly and we can sort washing out in our room at night when the dc have gone to bed.

We don't bother with a monitor any more either as the walls are super duper thin and we can hear if they cry out.

If you're not sure about putting her into her own room just yet, could you invest in a smaller cot or even one of those that are designed to fit at the side of your bed? Might make more room available.
