How did you prepare your child/and yourself! For preschool?

Dd1 is 2yrs 10months, asks when she can go to school, very bright, and loves to learn.

I have enquired for her to start a nursery until next September as that's when her proper placement will start within a school.

How do you prepare them, and yourself? I can't help but feel nervous as we are very close, been through so much together in her short life, I just think she'll enjoy it, and I hope she would settle well.. (And me!)

I think it would be good for her as we also have a nearly 16mo, and dc3 due in jan. so it will be something for her to do that's focused on her, only a couple of mornings per week. As we also do playgroup together twice a week

Do it gradually - maybe start with a couple of mornings a week to give you both time to adjust and then increase gradually. Sounds like she's ready and will benefit from getting some independence and confidence before school. Sounds like you have done a wonderful job with her so far and she will always need her mummy but she will gain a lot from being around other children, doing activities she can't do at home and you will benefit from time for yourself. We invest so much time, energy and love into our children in the early years it's hard to let go and let then build an identity of their own but it won't affect your closeness at all - you can enjoy sharing her experiences when she comes home and tells you all about it! She will feed off your feelings so if you're upbeat and positive about it, she won't be as anxious xx
