We have a harness thing that goes all the way round their back - it works very well - let me try to find a link...

My granddaughter (20 months) was very good at getting her arms out her car seat. My daughter bought the harness linked above. It is excellent and she sits safely now. Highly recommend it.

Oh thanks. Are they a hassle to get on and off? Always get a bit panicky about safety.

No, easy to get on and off - but I have a seat that swivels to the side to load dd in so it might be trickier if you have to climb into the car!
