What does your 5 yo boy like?

Apparently Thomas the Tank Engine is babyish now, and he's not all that sure about Tree Fu Tom anymore. What do they move on to next?

TV programmes? DS is nearly 6 and has pretty much given up on Cbeebies. He likes CBBC now. Oddly, he really enjoys Tracy Beaker. I would have thought it would be too old for him but he loves it. Horrible Histories is also a big favourite (especially Gory Games!) and a gameshow called Copycats.

He thinks that he likes superheroes like Spiderman, Iron Man etc but he's never seen any of the films. Oh, and Teenage Mutant Whatsit Turtles that apparently his dad lets him watch...

Same re: superheroes here, and TMNT too! I think it's because DH likes it.... DS likes Horrible Histories too, which I think is a bit gruesome TBH but he thinks it's funny. Aargh, the days of safely leaving the room with CBeebies on have gone, haven't they?

Sky landers, Moshi Monsters, Star Wars, Angry Birds, superheroes like Iron Man are "the next stage" that many boys seem to move on to.

Mine still into Octonauts, Mike the Knight, Simpsons, Minecraft (big sibling influence).

Telly wise he LOVES Octonauts. Charlie and Lola, Peter rabbit, Tree Fu Tom and Mike the Knight he likes too.
He's very keen on Angry Birds too. But on the whole I think he's quite young for his age

Power rangers, Ben 10, Spider-Man, Scooby Doo, Robot Boy, Gumball, that sort of thing

Angry birds and Ben 10 are emerging here too, come to think of it.

We also let him watch the first Harry Potter film recently, with one of us sat right next to him in case it got too scary, which he enjoyed but he couldn't concentrate well when DH tried reading a bit of the book to him. The later films are too scary for him to watch yet though as far as I'm concerned.

Peter Rabbit, Swashbuckle still cbeebies in general. He watched some CBBC over the summer but didnt like it.

He's not really that into "stuff" whereas so of the other kids at school know all about poke,on, or trashies or whatever. How? I don't know.

Sky landers, Lego ninjago, teenage mutant ninja turtles, any kind of super hero, spongebob, johnny test, spider riders, power rangers, sonic underground...

They are all on Netflix, on Cartoon Network there is Ben 10 and amazing world of gumball that he likes.

Starwars, Angry Birds, Lego including Lego Starwars. Some of the old cartoons like Flintstones, Smurfs, Popeye, Tom&Jerry. Old disney movies and some of the newer ones esp Pixar.

Peter Rabbit, Octonauts, Swashbuckle and Get Well Soon for TV programmes.

Playmobil and art and craft and writing and decorating cards and notes takes up the rest of the time!

DS is six now, but last year was a frenzy of Star Wars mania. He will never forget the day he saved enough for a £10 light sabre. Eventually I got around to letting him see the film, which I think let him finally understand what he'd been pretending to do in the playground .

I can't wait for him to get into Horrible Histories. Unfortunately the first one I got him to watch made him throw up (too much talk of putrid milk, open sewers and pus!).

Oooh, Lego is fantastic!

Yy to Lego - DH has been buying him the 6+ sets and spending hours making the kits up with him and he's always happy to spend time doing that (for some reason the instructions on the older age range sets are easier to follow than the slightly younger sets, which is just plain odd to me!).

DH let him watch the oldest Star Wars films recently ( only told me afterwards!) and now he is rather taken with Darth Vader. I was floored when I found out they were U rated.

And Playmobil is fab, I agree, he has an interesting selection which on occasion leads to the Angel Gabriel going to a pirate holiday island by airliner, accompanied by knights and zookeepers as fellow passengers

DS was 5 last week. He LOVES Lego obsessively, also Star Wars, Lego Star Wars, riding his bike, swimming, Hotwheel. He has never seen any Star Wars films, but some saddo blokes doing SW re-enactments on You Tube.

Lol theseboots we have similar situation with Little People, where the fireman drives the train and Noah stands in as a shepherd on the farm.

Mine loves playing with lego, Cars (disney), spiderman and hulk. Still plays with his Thomas trains occasionally (there are hundreds but can't get rid of them yet).

Tv wise he still likes Ben and Holly, peppa pig, also scooby doo, Tom and jerry, looney tunes

Ds1 is nearly 5yo and loves Spiderman (despite never having watched an episode as we think he's too young for it!), Angry Birds games, Cars2 film (fastforwarded over 2 scary parts) and all the characters, and Planes, but he does still enjoy Bob the Builder, Postman Pat, and Octonauts. Hex bugs are good too, I've got him a starter kit for his birthday and think he'll really like those.

Ahhh how could I forget Lego??! He loves Lego City - the lego itself and the free games on the Lego City website.

Since starting school this month Ben 10 and Power Rangers have suddenly appeared! He has some birthday money to spend so I've promised he can choose a figure of one of them next time we go shopping.
