Birthday traditions?

What special things do you do on your DCs birthdays?

I make a cake every year which is a pretty standard thing to do really, looking to start some new traditions though to make it more special, any suggestions? I have one DS who is nearly 4.

I always get a balloon with their age on it which I tie to their beds when thy're sleeping.

Presents are always in our room and we all get into bed to open them.

Birthday child gets to choose what to have for dinner that night
