Feel terrible :(

DS1 was playing in the same room as me when his eyes started to water & he said 'eat it now' & started pointing in his mouth. While getting him some water I asked him what he had eaten (not food) but he wouldn't or couldn't explain - just kept saying 'yes'.
I started to panic & shouted which scared him :( I was so panicked (still am) that he's swallowed something he shouldn't have & what might happen if he has.
I was so panicked & frustrated that I didn't know what he'd swallowed that I did shout & I feel terrible as I scared him. I tell him everyday about not putting things in his mouth & today was the final straw. My newborn was also crying - so that was all 3 of us, sat crying.
I feel dreadful as I do shout when things get too much & his 'typical 3 year old behaviour' frustrates me :(
I'm an awful mother :(

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You are definitely not a bad mother! My ds3 tried to eat some ibuprofen tablets and Dr was not bothered. I would phone 111 or nhs direct or your gp for some reassurance. I can't imagine there is much in your house that is easily accessible and dangerous as long as it has gone down and not got stuck. I took ds2 into a&e because he had stuck raisins up his nose, they all came out so no problems.

Having a Toddler and newborn is exhausting and your patience is going to suffer. I have got so cross with mine but as long as the positive times out way the negative all will be well.

Hope all goes well.

Thank you lorisparkle. He seems absolutely fine in himself - & on inspection there were pieces of thick cardboard which our cat scratching post is made of - so I'm hoping it was just that.
Oo my...raisins up the nose! Ouch!
