Trainer cups ??

Hi all,

10.5 mo DS breastfeeds morning and night and during the day drinks formula from the medela bottles. I would like him to start taking milk from a sippy cup, but till now all attempts have failed. I've tried various free flow cups but no success.
He will happily drink water from the Tommee Tippe first cup (which are brilliant!) but not milk...

I guess for milk he doesn't want something that is free flow... he wants the soothing he gets from sucking on a bottle...
Can someone recommend a trainer cup that will help him transition from bottle to free flow cups for milk?

Thanks :)

The doidy cups are fantastic if he just wants to sip.

Tbh, though, my 19mo still has her milk from a bottle. We tried every cup going - straws, free-flow, the sucky ones with valves, open cups, the lot - and she won't take milk from anything else. I came on here and posted after my 12m check because the HV kept banging on about it, and it turned out we definitely weren't alone. As far as DD is concerned, cups = water, milk = bottle, and nothing is going to change her mind about this. She still has 3 bottles a day but she drinks them quickly and has her teeth brushed afterwards so we've stopped worrying about it. They'll transition out as she grows out of having big milk drinks morning and night.

So just to say if your DS doesn't get the hang of milk from a beaker than it isn't the end of the world.

My health visitor said most of the two year olds she sees still have a bedtime bottle of milk so don't worry there's plenty of time yet.

We have had great results using a doidy and a vital cup,the one with the flip up spout. It is free flowing but quite slow so dd still gets to suck.

Hi my DS point blank refused milk from a cup until I stopped breastfeeding him - and then he held out for two weeks!

MY DS is 14 and uses a sippy cup because he tips over everything else. It was funny when his girlfriend came round and asked for a drink, her face when he gave her a sippy cup!

Someone has just recommended me this one by Nuby on another thread.

The NUK trainer cup also gets good reviews I think. but all babies seem to have different preferences! maybe ask round your parent friends for ones their DC rejected...?

Have tried a few but nothing has worked as of now...

He's so young. There's really no mad rush - if he will only drink milk from bottles then so be it!
