Lots of yuk nappies - teething or not?

DS is 10 months and quite a late comer to this teething malarkey. He's got one on the bottom so far. For nearly 2 weeks now he's been producing some disgusting nappies and been quite windy (also smells foul). He's producing up to 6 dirty nappies a day, they reek, often contain mucus and are very loose. He had seemed okay in himself, but this weekend he's been pretty whiney and miserable. I have been putting the poo situation down to teething, but would it go on for this long and so many of them? He started nursery 4 weeks ago, so also paranoid it could be something he's picked up there. He's definitely teething, but concerned the nappies could be due to something else.

My youngest 2 always get revolting nappies when they're teething.

Especially with DD we usually have a couple of weeks of crankiness, bad nappies, runny nose and sleep regression (sounds great doesn't it) and then she'll get a new tooth/teeth.

DS1 has always had vile nappies with teething, like you say five or six times a day and always makes his bum sore as well, must be awful for him. I would probably worry if it went on for more than a couple of weeks though, but if he isn't showing any other signs of being unwell and doesn't have a temperature I would say it sounds like teething.
Just about to go through all of this with DS2 soon, urgh!

Tbh that sounds worse than any teething nappies I've seen. I'd pop a sample up to the GPs, better safe than sorry.

What the pp said sounds like an infection if there is mucous better safe x

We've just had to get some anti fungal cream for dd's very sore, angry looking, bleeding nappy rash which has been exhasibated by her diarrhoea. Her nappies sound exactly as you describe: foul smelling, mucousy, sloppy, liquid poo. Often greenish brown in colour. It's been like this since Thursday. I don't know whether she's teething or not; I daren't put my finger in as her bites are rather painful (she's 11 mo and has 2 top/2 bottom teeth).
Thing is, ds has started with it too, he's 2.4 and has all his teeth, which makes me think it might be a bug. There's one going around, apparently.
