Hi

My LO is 3 months and requires endless rocking to put to sleep. Any recommendations for a swing that may help or she can just play in?

Thanks!

Expect at least a hundred responses saying jumperoo!

Fisher Price Discover 'N Grow Travel Swing. It's £79.99 but worth every penny. It's the only thing that allows me to shower etc each day. Ds even naps in it, which is amazing cos he normally fights naps like crazy. It even plays nice classical music that I don't mind listerning to.

We got the Mamas and Papas Starlite swing. It's currently on sale from £109 to £99 on their website. We got ours from eBay for £26, it's brilliant, the first time our DD fell asleep in it her snoring could be heard all over the house, she was well away. Really helps us when we're having an evening of colic.

We are selling a graco ziggy zebra swing if you're in the Yorkshire area...! Smile

ButteryJam · 21/08/2013 11:02

Thanks everyone!

Jumperoo doesn't allow napping though? I need something that will soothe her to sleep, not make her more alert and active (I'm sure she would love the jumperoo though).

The grace seems the cheapest but is it comfy to sleep in? The mamas and papas looks comfy to sleep in but is if like a proper swing? The thing is I have to rock her on a gym ball got quite long to get her to sleep. Do you think that will work? I don't want to buy something and end up wasting money, especially as its quite pricey!

ButteryJam! Hi! I just clocked your username, I was briefly on the post natal thread for May 2013 babies

We bought the Mamas and Papas sling when we were exhausted from having to stand upright all evening with DD and sway slightly. Our arms were about to drop off. The Starlight looks comfy, we just strap her in like we would in her bouncer, then as it is battery powered it just rocks her for 5, 10 or 15 minutes depending on our choice, also can play music and have a little light show overhead which is v effective at nighttime. The combination of being rocked and surprisingly soporific music played by the swing sends her off to sleep. She stays asleep when the rocking stops.

ButteryJam · 21/08/2013 17:58

Miaow, thanks! The baby weaver one is cheap! Does it recline? Is the seat adjustable? My baby currently keeps waking up in the bouncer.

Hi purr!! Smile how are you doing? It is very quiet in the may 2013 thread. I'm glad the mamas and papas swing worked for you! Does it recline fully? Does your LO sleep in it?

Has anyone had any issues with the straps of the mamas and papas silver lite swing? Seems to come up regularly in the reviews!

um this is not what you want to hear but a swing did nothing for our rocking addicted baby! You might want to see if you can test out a friend's swing before shelling out for one and spending hours putting the damn thing together and then dismantling it like I did

ButteryJam · 21/08/2013 21:17

Minipie, thanks! This is exactly what I am worried about. Sadly I don't have any friends that have one. Do you know any shops that may have them out so that we can test?

I had the same experience as minipie. I'd had high hopes because ds loved being rocked but he wasn't having any of it in a swing seat. We bought ours from Argos and opened it / put it together super-carefully so it didn't look used when we returned it a few days later...

jimblejambles · 21/08/2013 22:04

We got a bright starts swing half price from Argos. Dd is 14 weeks and loves it. It has loads of different speeds.

minipie · 22/08/2013 08:58

I don't I'm afraid, unless you can find one in a charity shop near you or maybe an NCT nearly new sale...

mumofboyo · 22/08/2013 09:01

Do toys are us have them out? I think that's where we got ours from

jimijack · 22/08/2013 09:09

Buttery, where are you because I have a graco swing that you can have if you are able to collect.
I've used it for both my babies. My 1st was very fussy, tearing my hair out fussy.
A friend gave it to me and labelled it "THE gift from God" it truly is fab.

ButteryJam · 22/08/2013 11:18

Jimijack, many thanks! :) Ill DM you my location.
