Will be baby be okay after drinking four hour old formula?

My 9 month old DS is usually only bf with the occasional bottle of ready made formula if I'm not there.

Tonight my niece was babysitting him and I left her a bottle to give him at bedtime which was fine. However, he woke up at midnight and as I would usually bf him back to sleep, she gave him some of the bottle to settle him, bless her as she didn't know she shouldn't and I obviously should have said not to.

He's sleeping fine just now but I'm a bit worried about him getting ill??

I would think so. I'm sure lots of people do this routinely without any problem.

If it was in the fridge then yes definitely he'll be fine.

When my eldest was a baby I often went out for the day with ore-prepared bottles. He's a strapping 13 yo now. The advice about bottles changed before my twins were born but it was the norm per 2004

Yes, he will be fine.
A nine month old has had months of eating real food and chewing dirty toys, that a few germs in properly made up formula are very very unlikely to bother him.

Many of us made up while days worth of bottles, whith any old temp water (as 70° advice is new) and never had a sick baby.

How is Ds this morning OP?

QOD · 21/08/2013 06:28

Ah bless you for worrying! My dd is 14 and her milk was made up and stored, its how it was!

Itsmymove · 21/08/2013 10:31

Oh thanks for this! He's absolutely fine of course! I read a couple of things when I searched last night saying, ohh babies will get sickness and diarrhoea etc. Confused

When all my girls were little everyone made 6 bottles once a day and kept them in the fridge!
Mine were all fine and have grown up healthy Smile
