My toddler's just eaten a bit of wood...

It was a piece that had come off some firewood, about a 1.5cm square chunk - he swallowed it before I could get to him. Other than keeping an eye on his nappies, do I need to do anything? He's forever putting things in his mouth (no matter how thorough I tidy he seems to find something I missed), but this is the first time he's managed to swallow anything before I got to him!

I am lax & would just keep an eye on him. I don't think wood shows up on X-rays? So wouldn't be any point in taking him to A&E to check for a blockage (maybe).

Thanks, that's what I was leaning towards - he has a GP appointment on Tuesday anyway so if it hasn't reappeared by then I'll mention it, unless he gets any worrying symptoms in which case I'll take him to A&E!

I think I would ring up nhs direct to be honest, 1.5 cm is quite big.
