My ds1 is 4.5yo and while lovely and fun and sweet, currently wants me to put on voices and play with his toy cars all. the. time. Even when I am driving in the car, or while I am eating my supper. Enough to drive anyone nuts! So I do sympathise with small children trailing after you wanting help with play.

I find it easiest to just get out and about lots. Even if you're doing something dull, like shopping, at least you can play some 'I spy' games or chat about things you see and it is just some variation from being at home having to actively find things to do. Some days we just do dull stuff (!) and other days we'll go to the park or today we went to a nearby farm park as a bit of a treat. I don't think you have to or even should do something 'exciting' every day or they get used to it and start complaining when you don't.

One activity I find handy at home to pass a bit of time is just to put ds1 at the sink with a bowl full of water, a plastic funnel, a beaker, and his Octonauts toys. He'll play happily for quite some time. Good luck!

Voices in the car seems to go down well for me also, especially singing to the radio !

I guess my main bug bare really is all toys attention spans, surely if there was a toy that lasted a long time, was indestructible :-), had some structure to it and helped my child use her imagination, she would want to use it on a more regular basis?? Does this exist and I just haven't seen it ??

Totally agree with getting out as much as possible, is alot easier now while the weather is nice !
