3rd birthday ahoy!

DS1 is going to be 3 in just over 3 weeks from now and I am expecting DS2 to arrive this week, all being well and I don't go overdue (fx fx fx).

So I'm trying to think of some ideas for a present for DS1 for his birthday.

A few factors ... he is getting his new autumn / winter shoes from my mum and new clothes for starting playgroup from various other family members. He loves playing outside and also a big fan of play-doh, Angry Birds and Duplo but he has plenty of play-doh, Duplo / Mega Blocks etc. Space is a bit of an issue in our house so I would rather not buy something huge unless it can be easily put away and stored.

At the minute we are thinking of paying for him to go to toddler soccer on Saturday mornings for a term to see how he likes it and I was also thinking something like a trike / ride on / scooter for the park. He is very tall for his age, though (easily the height of a 4 year old), so most trikes are slightly on the small side for him but he probably doesn't have the coordination for a bike or anything yet.

Any ideas much appreciated - I'd like to order something online before new baby arrives and my brain turns to mush!!!

Rather than a trike, what about a bike with stabilizers that can be removed at a later date? My DS is 3 in October and has just got the hang of pedals so I was wondering the same. He has never really got the hang of his balance bike, so not sure whether to persevere with that. But he loves his mini-micro scooter.

I've also seen some cool cameras for age 3+, which friend's children have had great success with as 3rd birthday presents.

I'll keep watching for ideas for October though!

Angry birds duvet set? Themed cutlery/plate bowl and cup set?

I'd never thought of a camera! He might really like that :)

A bike with stabilisers could be good. DS hasnt really gotten the hang of pedals but I think that's because he has been trying to use trikes at childminders etc which are just a bit too small for him and hard for him to use.

I'm already making an Angry Birds cake, as you do, lol. I hate those bloody birds!

Thanks for suggestions so far Grin Flowers
