Do I take the single or double pushchair on holiday?

Advice please. Ds2 is 20 months loves to walk and hates the pushchair but if we're out for the day he'll need to nap in it and will want to be in it for the rest of the afternoon as he's tired.
Ds1 3 yrs 8 months. With out Ds2 no question of pushchair but he will get tired and need cajoling to walk. If he see Ds2 in push chair think he'll want me to carry him.
Thinking he should walk and to take single but I'm frightened I'm going to have to carry him. ( he is not small)

Anyone got/had this age gap? What did you do?

A single pushchair and ds1 can walk. He will get use to it if he doesn't have any other options. When we go away I just take a cheap pushchair (think I paid £10 from tesco) takes up less space.

What about single pushchair and buggy board. If both get tired would it be easier for DS1 to go in buggy and DS2 to be carried?
