Driving through the night with 10 month old?

We are going on holiday next week and we are aiming to get fairly south in Europe. We are camping so it doesn't really matter how far we get, we can camp wherever. The problem is 10mo dd, who doesn't travel very well in the car. She might sleep for an hour or so, but that's it, and if she won't sleep we generally don't get very far - on a journey that should take an hour we might have to stop several times.

So I'm thinking that if we want to get any distance at all it might be best to drive through the night, with dh and I taking it in turns to sleep, then take the day slowly with plenty of stops for her. Would this be alright for her? I know you're not supposed to leave them in the car seat for long, but would an occasional night be ok? Other issue would be us getting tired, and I don't sleep well in cars.

Not sure what to do! Or should we not attempt it and have our holiday somewhere in northern France?!

It sounds like it maight be a stressful experience for you all, and ending up with you being sleep deprived as well. I'd scale it back a bit and not try to go so far.
