Diarrhoea after first ever food :-(

I gave my dd (5.5m) her first ever food last night, we started with banana. She must have only eaten a tiny amount as most was went on her face/ floor or in the dog but last night she had 2 lots of very watery poo overnight. She had milk a d soya intolerances already and has been solely on bm up until now. Is the diarrhoea normal when you start food or should I assume she is also intolerant to banana?

It could have been a coincidence or simply the fact that some thing other than bm was being digested. Maybe leave the banana for a few days and then try again.

Pear is meant to be very unlikely to cause any reaction so maybe you could try that next?

I agree with PP - go with the very easily digestible stuff first . My DS has a very funny tummy and weaning is taking us forever and a day. We started on carrots, sweet potato, pear and apple. Even now banana is a funny one.

what About starting with baby rice/ weetabix with bm to make the jump to food smaller?

Pear is a good one, it is one of the least allergenic foods apparently (along with lamb and rice)
