Have been reading this after recommendation from a friend. How young do people find they can start counting with their kids?

Unfortunately we didn't come across the book until ours were about 10, 8, 6 and 6, but if I'd found it earlier then I think they would have responded from about age 3.

I haven't read the book but I use a version of counting to 3 with DS who is 26 months. He didn't understand cognitively at first, but after repeating it a few times he now understands what happens when I get to 3.

At the moment I only use it at bedtime when he draws out picking a book for too long. I'll say that I'll count to 3 and if he hasn't picked a book I will pick one for him. It works great. Now that he understands the concept better i am sure I could extend it to more situations.
