Hi all,
Just gone upstairs and saw my neighbour opposite me leaving her house to go out she was all dressed up an left in a taxi. Problem is she has a one year old dd who I strongly suspect is inside the house alone as girl has no friends and family in this country apart from her boyfriend whom I imagine she has gone to meet. Daughters bedroom light was on and she drew the curtains as I've noticed she usually does at the same time my lo's go to bed, all the lights are now off. I know I sound like a nosey neighbour but I'm not, although I am very worried, what should I do?

I'm surprised you need to come on here to ask tbh.

If you think if a child has been left in the house by themselves then phone the police. They will pop round and check.

mirren3 · 20/07/2013 21:25

I would call, they would rather be bothered by a mistake than something more serious later on.

monkeyfacegrace · 20/07/2013 21:27

Hell yeah call 101.
Then update us.

If you genuinely do think that she might have left her 1 yr old without a baby sitter then yes I would ring the police. Perhaps the non-emergency number to seek advice, as they could escalate if necessary.

However, how sure are you that a paid babysitter didn't arrive earlier in the evening? How much do you watch her house?!

Of course you should! The police would much rather you made a mistake rather than saying nothing!

StuntBottom · 20/07/2013 21:29

Go and knock on the door. If there is a babysitter in the house, they will answer and put your mind at rest.

Wishfulmakeupping · 20/07/2013 21:30

Please call them anything could happen- don't put it off do it now

Allthatglitters789 · 20/07/2013 21:30

I suppose she could have a baby sitter, but seems unlikely as all the lights are off. I'm going to give the non emergency police a call.

Wishfulmakeupping · 20/07/2013 21:31

Has she ever done this before OP?

LEMisdisappointed · 20/07/2013 21:32

do please do this

KoalaFace · 20/07/2013 21:33

If all lights except baby's are off then it sounds possible she's home alone Sad

Please call police. Just in case.

HotCrossPun · 20/07/2013 21:34

Monkeyfacegrace Confused

ArabellaBeaumaris · 20/07/2013 21:34

Can't you go & knock on the door first? Don't quite get why you wouldn't try that.

Allthatglitters789 · 20/07/2013 21:35

I don't watch get house intentionally exbrighton it's just her bedrooms are opposite my sons rooms. Will update when I have phoned them.

Bunbaker · 20/07/2013 21:37

Perhaps the baby is staying somewhere else tonight?

yamsareyammy · 20/07/2013 21:43

What is the harm in knocking on the door first? Hmm

monkeyfacegrace · 20/07/2013 21:53

Why the Confused hotcrosspun?

Greythorne · 20/07/2013 21:55

Knock first.
Then call non emergency number if no answer.

HotCrossPun · 20/07/2013 21:58

Is the lady foreign?

Relevance?

kitbit · 20/07/2013 21:58

I also don't get why you wouldn't knock yourself first? Why the drama and straight to the police? Rule out an innocent explanation first, be sensible op

monkeyfacegrace · 20/07/2013 22:01

Umm, in the OP she said the lady had no friends or family in the country. I was wondering whether the ladies parents could have visited from abroad or wherever to help out and she hadnt noticed.
