19 month old being sick

Hi.

My 19th month old DS woke up from his afternoon nap and has vomited 4 times in the last hour and a half. He was even sick after drinking some water. Thing is he is asking for food and I'm not sure whether to give him any. Haven't had much experience of sickness with him so am wondering what you would give - if anything?

Don't give him anything to eat for a few hours. You need to let the stomach rest and recover. At the moment give just small sips of water. If you give him a big drink he will just vomit it up, so literally a sip every 5 minutes or so and that should stay down. If the water stays down after a few hours, then give a very small finger of dry toast or a dry biscuit. Then increase the food gradually, but I would keep it plain for a couple of days.

Another thing - wash his and your hands and face regularly. Droplets can stick to the face and pass the bug on but if you wash and dry the hands and face often this is much less likely to happen.

Good luck - it is horrible when they are ill.

Thanks for your advice. I took it and he's not been sick since! Looking a lot chirpier today and eating ok. Many thanks. :)
