Burping - what's your technique?

Hi

I know this sounds like a silly question but I'm really rubbish at burping my LO, and I was wondering if you could share with me your technique of burping?

Well, not great at it either despite being on my second baby, but hand under chin, sitting on knee, gently rubbing upwards on left hand side.

Or lying across my lap and gently rubbing up his back.

Patting is a no-no with my boys, unless you like warm regurgitated milk dripping down you!

Dd sat on my lap and tilted forwards or gently bounced

Got loads of tips from my bfing group. My fav is a workaround on the advice to walk up and down stairs: Woman didn't want to leave bedroom in middle of night so did lunges to replicate walking up stairs. I tried it and baby loves it!

DS sat on my knee, slightly lent forward and gentle back rubbing up & down. No patting in this house either, we learnt that the hard way!!

If a burp is really stuck then lay your baby down for a minute then pick them back up & try again - this seems to work well for trapped wind!

Yy to stairs and changing position. Often we would find that giving her to the other one of us to try, would result in a burp in transit!

put the baby over your shoulder worked well for me and also rocking the baby in a sitting up position...it's hard to describe but I'd put my hand on the baby's and other hand on it's chest and very gently rock back and forward and it would usually work. I'd try this at night while in bed in the very early days after my c-sections.
