When is it safe to let your LO sleep with a blankie?

My DS is 5.5m & I think he's going to be a comfort blankie boy as he loves to fall asleep with a cellular blanket or muslin next to his mouth/nose. He also can pull them over his face...hmm.

At the mo I check on him everytime he goes quiet when he's falling asleep just in case!

Surely there's comes a point when I don't need to do this? I just don't have a clue when!

I don't have a clue either, but at 1 they can have pillows and a light duvet, so I reckon around then?

Disclaimer, not an expert. Oh and I am risk averse. HTH!

I'd go for around 1 too. Mine were only allowed soft toys from 6 months, scarred for life they are Wink.

They say it's a year but my son had his as his comforter from 6 months old. He still as it now he's nearly 3.

Ds always had blankets. There weren't sleeping bags easily available back then.

A small crochet blankie so when he pulls it over his face he can still breathe?

SpooMoo · 22/07/2013 16:57

We gave her a tiny cloth toy instead of a cloth/blankie, just to put my mind at ease.

poocatcherchampion · 24/07/2013 20:42

dd used to do this with a muslin from about the same age. we took it off her face but left it in the cot often. she got bored after a few weeks anyway and now prefers rabbit.

fempsych · 24/07/2013 20:44

We have a cluski - fully breathable!

LoganMummy · 24/07/2013 23:27

What's a cluski?
