finger foods any ideas please

My 9ds looks at me gone out if I put down any finger foods for him. Tried toast, pasta , fruit, goodies treats, just not keen at all. I have tried at the start of meals during. Done them separately to meal times. He may pick them up most times not, anything else I put in front of him that's not food he is like a vulture to get his hands on it. Any top tips ladies. He eats fine with me feeding him. Polishes off all three courses pud is his favourite. He has eggs scrambled and other lumped bits

Does he put other thing in his mouth? Like toys? Maybe take him in garden with picnicy food let him have a play?

Does he have a mid morning snack? Perhaps just offer finger food then. What does he have at playgroup/nursery?

Some babies like dipping their fingers in things like hoummous, yoghurt, cream cheese. Not strictly finger food, but they do then eat it with their fingers. One for the garden maybe!

Does he dislike the textures? You could just give him dry things like breadsticks - very similar to a stick he might pick up and put in his mouth! And then start dipping the end of them in something before giving them to him - cream cheese, hummus, whatever puree you're giving him. Not all babies like grabbing slippery veg and fruit and pasta. You can also get a little net feeding bag off Amazon which you can put watery fruits like mango and melon in, and the little net with handle looks much more like a teething toy than 'food'. It might take a while of him chewing the handle instead of the food in the net - nice for teething gums - but once he bites the net and gets a taste of yummy mango he'll hopefully be persuaded to chew that end instead.

Ds1 didn't like finger foods for a long time-he still prefers to use cutlery now to eat pizzas!

I used to load spoons full of humous, cream cheese etc, up on his high chair tray alongside sticks of asparagus, cucumber and other soft strips of veg. This mix and match approach worked for us as he liked holding the spoons (nothing too dribbly!) and putting them in his mouth. He would then pick up the veg sticks and do the same.
