What age the cinema?

My 2.5 year old loves planes and there is a plane movie coming on in August that I would love to take him. I have yet to take any of my children to the cinema! Do you think he's too young. I think he has watched one movie on tv (kind of when his siblings were watching).

I've been taking my son since he was 2 although at that age we would often have to leave before the film ended.

At an age that they wont disturb other people. Cinema is a rare and expensive treat in this house and there is no better way to spoil a film than s toddler that wont shut up. They don't thry eithrr whone or talk all the way through it. I cant help but feel it is more parental indulgence of a milestone just wait until it isn't torture for all involved and take your ds to the park he will enjoy that more

Thanks for your replies. I agree LEM. He'll love the movie, but I'm sure it will be on DVD by Christmas. In the meantime we'll just keep looking at the sky.

Depends on the child! My DD enjoyed films at the cinema from 18mo, never made a noise at all as she sat transfixed and we never left a film before the end. My DS, however, still doesn't get cinema etiquette aged 5.

Are there any cinemas around you that do a kids club type thing? I don't know if there is an official name for it but they'll show a kids film and you only pay for the child's ticket, the adult goes free (I so look forward to DS being the right age for this.. I love animated movies but DH doesn't ). Obviously the whole cinema will be filled with parents & kids so not as much pressure on sitting still / being quiet, but a good opportunity to try things out and get him used to cinema etiquette.

We took 2.6 year old DD to see despicable me. She was good as gold, didn't make a sound and fell asleep halfway through it.

As a teenager I worked at Vue Cinemas. On a weekday morning they run special screenings for parents and young children - the type of screening where noisy babies are expected and tolerated.

Look out for those! Your child will by no means be the youngest there!
