Are cloth nappies better to avoid nappy rash when crawling?

DS bum shuffles and is now crawling also. With the crawling everywhere, constant sitting down and shuffling, has come nappy rash. He has always been sensitive to the chemicals in disposables, but we'd always been ok with Lidl or Asda own make ones. Now it seems that as he's wriggling around on the floor in them, we're getting this rash as a reaction. I'm having to put nappy liners inside the disposables to reduce this, and in the evenings am leaving him nappy-free. It upsets him when he gets wet as a direct result of that though!

Would cloth nappies fix this, or would we have the same problem? I have no drying facilities really so would be the terry squares so I could get them dry in time on the airer. Just wondering!

I found with three of mine the disposables did cause more rash,

nappy free is best.
