Okay - who has worked out the right quantities of washing up liquid to water for bubble mix replacement??? Know there must be a bubble nerd out there that has already conducted this vital research????

I want to know this too!

You have to add something else too ......

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/07/2013 19:49

You need to add glycerin to it! Hang on I'll find my recipe...

I use half a cup of washing up liquid to about 4 cups of water and then about half a cup of glycerol. Leave it overnight and it gets even better!

I make mine in a big batch and store it in an old screen wash bottle or big coke bottle.

Knew you were out there Mrs!!!!!Where do you buy glycerol?

Chemists have it

Panzee · 13/07/2013 22:50

I get mine from Poundland in giant bottles.

Hamwidgeandcheps · 13/07/2013 22:53

You can buy it in tesco for not much dollar it's v good. Does it work out much cheaper to make it?

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/07/2013 08:07

Chemists and yes LOADS cheaper. You can make litres of it at the same time and it lasts for ages - in fact the longer it lasts the better the bubbles!

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/07/2013 08:09

Boots sell glycerin here our local chemist is cheaper.

Water - free
Cheap washing up liquid is also only pennies!

You could make about 8l for under £2 easily!

Cheers! My dd is obsessed with bubbles at the moment! Will be cooking up a batch!

You don't need as much glycerol as I said btw - can use less (say 2 tbsp with the quantities above), but the more you put in, the quicker you can use the mixture. Just remember to put it all in slowly and mix it slowly! I am off to get out our bubbles things today now I think...!

Thanks for that - I have wanted to know for years
