Hello i could do with some help from cloth nappy pros with toddlers!

Ds1 is 26 months and potty training's been a bit delayed by baby number 2 who's 3 months. ( I think ds is nearly ready but I'm not!)

Recently his cloth and disposable nappies have leaked as he must be weeing all at once. bum genius v3 especially don't survive the wee, but even our 2 partners sometimes soak through... They are little lamb size 2 or mother ease b-t-p with one booster and a blueberry or me wrap. Mother ease wraps are a bit better. Our bamboo boosters were second hand so maybe have lost their absorbency.

I only have 4 LL bamboos, so they're getting worn out too and wondered about getting some size 3s. Alternatively maybe I need some thirstier boosters - any tips? Generally any tips for something to get us through another few weeks before (hopefully) potty training would be great. I don't want to fork out too much but then dd will use them too.

We also have v hard water here and the cotton and bamboo nappies have all gone pretty crusty - would that reduce absorbency? I never use fabric conditioner and small amount of detergent.

Thanks!

Are disposables leaking too? They must be some power wees!

To be honest, with a young baby and toilet training, I'd just go for pull ups and make my life a bit easier.....

But, i appreciate if you don't want to do this, try another bamboo booster in the LLs - not sure they even do size 3s, the size 2 is supposed to go to potty isn't it (though saying that my 20 month old is getting a bit big for hers).

Do you have a tumble drier? I often finish off the LL bamboo in ours with a couple of dryer balls just to fluff them up a bit.

Bamboo should be just as absorbent even if old as it is supposed to improve absorbency with washing.

You could do a strip wash too if worried about absorbency of the nappies?

Just saw another another thread that LL do a size 3 so that might be the route to go down if you know you will get the wear out tof them.

We had this with DD1 at exactly this age. DD2 was 2 months. Honestly, in the end I just went for it and potty trained. She was doing such enormous wees that they were widely spaced and it was easy to train her. It only took a few days and the effort was totally worth it to have one in nappies again.

You could also look at the nappy lady website for her bamboo super boosters or little weeds hemp booster that are supposed to be awesome for heavy wetters. I agree with the other poster that if washed correctly (too much detergent will decrease absorbency) the bamboo should get more absorbent with age. Also, are you using a bamboo booster in your V3's? (Microfibre closest to the skin then bamboo behind) and you could use an extra booster between the outside of the nappy and the wrap on the two parters (make sure the wrap still fits loosely or it'll 'squeeze' the wee out and leak!) I also dry my bamboo boosters and then stick them in the tumble drier for the last 20 mins when I'm drying towels and stuff which helps fluff them up sometimes - otherwise I use large fluffy LL's liners so the bit against DS's skin is always soft
