I walk miles with my pram to get ds to sleep. somedays I think I am the only one

Ds won't sleep in his cot during the day I have tried. He is 9 months. He won't even in his basket. I think I have done 800 miles since easter! !! Please tell me I am not the only one! ? Luckily he does sleep in his crib at night. I have tried CIO no joy. He starts nursery at 12 months and worried about him sleeping there.
Walk two hours + a day and my lovely trainers ain't so lovely anymore!! I live in a village so very lonely walking anyone else out there stomping away!

This is my first ever post but it struck a real chord with me. I walked miles with my ds, 5,6,7 miles a day as he would only sleep in buggy. Everyone thought I was mad. He'd scream and get upset in cot. I was dreading nursery - at first they rocked him to sleep ina swing chair - no problem, then after a week put the swing chair in cot room, then after a week tried the cot. After a week he was sleeping really well and at home too. Now he will reliably go for an hour in the morning and two in the afternoon. I NEVER thought this would happen. Please don't worry...it will. Do what you have to do to get him to snooze....does he wake if you stop moving? Also my ds is nearly one and crawling/standing tires him out! I am sure it will be the same for you. Good luck x

Oh my gosh how I remember this. We walked miles and miles with DS. So much so that a local window cleaner once stopped us to say 'blimey it's done some miles, that pram'. He had seen us all over the village with DS. DH and I looked grey and exhausted and DS (still wide awake, natch) looking perkier than any non-sleeping baby had a right to be. I vividly recall stumbling him through the park at 5.30am, fighting with the sobs. I lost but hey, it was 5.30 - I had no audience!

It gets better. Just don't ask me when.

I did it with DTs. Every single day in every single type of weather until they were 11.5months. We went on holiday where they they put themselves to one nap and when we came back I thought I'd try them in their cots and that was it, job done!

10 month old DS currently asleep in pushchair in hallway while I sit on stairs. He's been going to nursery for just over a month now - some days he naps well there, some days he doesn't. I think (DP does pickups) they try a variety of things - cot, mat, or they have a pushchair for babies who are used to napping on the move.

So, not necessarily going to be a problem - he'll probably change a lot in 3 months too.

snap! dd is six months old and will only nap in her pushchair or on my boob. she wakes up if I stop walking too. oh well at least it's sunny out. and it's a good way to lose the baby weight

I walked miles and miles with DS. When he started at the childminder my weight shot up!

He was fine though, he napped really easily for her

I walked miles and miles with my dd1 to get her to sleep only for her to wake up when the pram stopped. Everyone told me to sleep when she slept but i couldnt as i was pounding the streets, sometimes with tears of frustration pouring down my cheeks.

Then i got a robopax and my time was my own again. Its the one piece of kit i would never loan out because it literally saved my sanity. I slept when she was on it and then when it turned off so she woke so i actually ended up setting her sleep routine with it too.

OMG after MONTHS of walking around like a zombie why didn't I see that robopax thing before???? Brilliant.
Right as dd has decided she can send herself to sleep after all.....

I used to walk miles and miles to get DS to sleep from when he was newborn til around 9 months. Other friends would be able to put their baby in the pram and push it up and down the hallway til they fell asleep. Not my child. Oh no. I'd have to walk and walk and the little tyke would wake up as soon as I got to the front door. I swear he woke up whenever he heard me put the key in the lock.

Now I live somewhere where it's too blimin hot to walk around but thankfully he'll sleep his cot now. My waistline misses the walking.

My dd was 5months (colic the whole time) before I found the robopax. Dh used to drive her up and down the motorway at 2am except I was petrified they'd die in a crash leaving me behind so I used to get in the car too rather than sleep. Then we'd get back and she'd wake up again.

I can laugh at such behaviour now I'm on dd2! But that machine was my saviour.

Bloody hell I was also about to add my tales of woe walking miles and miles with dd and now I see there is a gadget that I could have used instead.

As others have said though, the walking got me into shape again c quickly and I also used the time to get back into listening to good music again.

On a more practical note, if it is still really getting you down OP, we did eventually manage to get to a stage where we just rocked the buggy in the hall with a blanket over it and she crashed out after 5 mins. Similarly nursery also got her to sleep in a swing and by 12 months she could sleep in a cot which was a total revaluation so it doesn't last forever!

I have a 3 year old and can't always be dragging him out twice a day in the car or for a walk while I struggle to get his sister to sleep (she's 10 months).

What do I do? I leave front door open so DS can see me and can shout if needed, and walk her in pram up and down the driveway and in a circle past the two houses on either side, over and over again for about 20 mins till she sleeps. Then I leave her in pram outside living room window.

oh yes, not now, but i did walk miles with mine, praying they'd sleep. like a zombie, one foot in front of the other. if they did finally fall asleep i'd dash home and put my feet up.
