My beloved was stuck at an airport with her a year or so ago, and has been smitten ever since!

I am embarrassed to say I picked up someone else's copy of Hello magazine on the train the other day and she was 'featured' in there. Yes she's pregnant but is very nervous about the birth. Considered elective c-section but has now decided to have a 'natural' birth but said she would definitely have an epidural - is this really natural childbirth though??!!!!

If the baby comes out through the normal route, from spontaneous onset of labour without mechanical/external assistance, isnt that natural enough? Does it really make a difference if you're in agony or pain free, as to whether its "natural" or not? Why be a martyr? Or is it just so you can boast at the post natal meet up? Give the girl a break!
Anyone read at the w/e in one of the Sundays about the latest phobia to hit women. Tokophobia-fear of pregnancy and childbirth, and is thought to affect as many as 1 in 7 of us!

If I believe my pregnancy yoga teacher (God what does that sound like!!!!) then she adamently said 'natural childbirth' is only with NO assistance, ie no drugs whatsoever, even gas and air. I'm not saying that's what I did though! - Gas and Air and signing my name for an epidural (with great relief!) for a ventouse delivery when rushed into emergency c-section. I just wouldn't have said I had a natural childbirth if I had had an epidural. So no bragging at the meet-up!
