... he doesn't actually have any pants on?

He is so reliable if I leave him naked from the waist down, but I kept him in pants all day yesterday and he pooed them 4 times!

But is this training him to only be trained when naked? Ideally, I want him to use the potty when clothed, as well as nude.

reminding him doesn't work, he will only sit on the potty if he feels he wants to go.

my ds did this as when he had pants on he thought he had nappy on so used to remind him constantly that he had pants on not nappy..after 2 days he was fine.

How about trying him in just shorts/trousers but no pants? This was the top tip from my ds's nursery and it worked a treat. Basically pants make them feel secure like a nappy hence the accidents, but when allowed to hang loose as it were they can start to recognise the urge to wee/poo and so stop until on the toilet/potty. We did this for ds for about 4 weeks, until he was regularly taking himself off to the potty, then we put the pants back on and never looked back...

i had this problem too. DS is 26 months old and is fantastic when half naked. If we put pants on him, he would wet them. Someone suggested to me the shorts but no pants and after 2 days, we have had no accidents. Today he wore pants for most of the day and he just pulled them off to go to the potty!

I am really pleased with him
