Just out of interest how many parents have dogs and what breed?

I have three teenagers & three springer spaniels. We got the first dog when the youngest DC was six. Springers are very energetic and probably a bit too bouncy for very young children, but they are great with older children.

Shar pei got when lo was 1. He's so dopey and slow perfect!!!

2 dogs - 10 year old retriever/? Cross breed, and 3 year old utterly bonkers and annoying border collie. Both great with my 3 ds.

2 kids 7 and 2, 2 dogs, similar ages. Both cross breeds.

I have a rescue staffy, got her when she was a puppy. Best thing I ever did, she is lovely and my daughter - 8 years - loves her very much. I think pets are really good for children.

we've had a terrier cross for four months. DS is 9.

I've never had a dog before so it's been quite an adjustment. He is very lovely and a pain in the arse.

I also have a staffy, 3 years old and a 4 month old DS. She's very gentle with him, gives him the odd lick!

One black lab, he is 9, DS is 3. DDog is as soft as butter.

We have two dogs, one is a 5.5 year old lab who we've had since she was a puppy, the other is a 5 year old staffy cross who was a rescue girl of about 18 months when she came to us. Our DD is 11.5 months and absolutely adores her dogs who are both fantastic with her.

1 lab/staffie cross a rescue puppy aged 3.9 and 1 DS aged 15 months.

a JRT mongrel who's 3 this year and a two week old DS, the puppy thinks the baby is a monster and licked his head to mame sure

2yo twins and a 2 1/2 year old cairn terrier. They love him and he loves them!

Hard work, but dh often takes her to work with him. Dog and baby have a symbiotic relationship around mealtimes and mannah from highchair heaven.

8,5 and 2 year old kids and an 11 year old crossbreed, bit of everything medium sized dog

We had the dog first then the kids. The older 2 never really bothered with the dog at all, she was just there. The 2 year old adores her, she talks about her in her sleep .

Almost 6 month old baby and a 6 year old boxer.

He's a big softy and only just starting to take notice of DD. She's besotted with him.

We've got two Italian greyhounds and a lab. Our little chap is 3 months old.

I have an 8 year old lab and a 3 year old DD. I couldn't have asked for a better natured dog for DD to grow up with. She's learning about the responsibility that comes with caring for a pet and is fantastic at walking long distances on bumpy terrain
