2 1/2 yo and a 6mo sharing a room - how would you do it?

I have dds old moses basket for baby in our room for the first few months, and dd1isin a cotbed which I'm assuming by the time they share, will have the sides took off.

Do I buy dd1 a 'proper bed' and use the cotbed for dc2? Or buy a cheap basic ikea cot for dc2 to use from the start?

Ideally I would like to end up with the below, but worry they would both be too young to do this from the off

ikea bunks

Our big 2 shared from similar age, there is 2 years between them. \we had big one in proper bed and small one in cot. You'll need a bed anyway so I'd avoid wasting money on another cot and get bunks so big one on bottom bunk and little in the cot bed.

We bought bunk beds that can also be 2 singles. Have moved DC1 into a single bed (prior to DC2 arriving), DC2 will be in co-sleeper cot to begin, then in the second single. When they are old enough, we can convert back to bunks.

We have a similar gap and have just bought bunks.

I thought you were going to be asking tips of how it works when one dc wakes to avoid waking other dc and slightly different bedtimes.

Oh we got a second hand cot for £10 and bought a new matteress. We will be having both in cots for a little while at least. We havnt had any climbing attempts yet. Really didn't read the post properly first time.

You need a Shanticot!

We have dd1 (2.7yo) on the bottom in a bed and dd2 (7mo) on top in the cot.

It's amazing!

we moved dd into a big bed when I was pregnant with ds at around 18 months.ds moved into her room in the cot at 6 months. they are now I junior beds and will get bunks once they've grown out of themSmile

Ooh I like that shanticot link! Unfortunately we got 'bunk beds'. It's really a cnin bed with a mattress on the floor for dd... But at the moment everyone is in my bed!!! Neither dc have shown any interest in their new bed...
