I have dt aged 4 who have started to go to preschool
also we are letting them watch a wider range of shows, more like transformers , less Bob the builder

they have starter shooting people and talking about goodies and baddies

even age appropriate games seem violent to me

is this normal?

it doesn't matter but they are boys

Mine never have really (DS is 9 and DD is 7). But I think they're quite unusual.

Mine are 4 and 3 and do this. I really don't like it but I think it is "normal". I tell them nt to shoot at people and to say get rather than kill. I don't want to make a big deal of it. I dont even know where they get it from. I really would rather they didn't, I don't have any toy guns (even water pistols) in the house.

I don't have any guns in the house and water pistols are shaped as animals

my boys goes psssst at each other and say I pssssst you so I think they are making water noises

I don't think they understand yet that it could hurt each other

also they had their water shooters for the first time yesterday, took them a good 15 mins before they worked out they could aim for each other

My 3 year old has started doing this Hmm.
Iam far from impressed, iam also quite particular about what he watches on TV. Although his father has allowed him to watch Power Rangers!Confused

Think he has learnt it from the older children at birthday parties/soft play

Mine had sword fights first.
Then water pistols.

Never allowed any kind of toy guns in the house however ds simply made them out of sticks, Lego, two fingers!! Even if they don't watch TV with guns, children at nursery often do and will share as part of their play! Unavoidable but I found mostly harmless and not bad intent meant when playing.
