What to do about work when you DS is ill?

DS is one year old and has been poorly since Tuesday night. He was sick through the night Tuesday and now it's just diarrhoea. He cries in his sleep and is groggy in the day. He is flushed and just wants held and cuddled. He stays over at my Mum' s on a Thursday so I can go to work on a Friday. She copes really well although I feel it's my place to look after him when he is sick. I have a proffessional job and it puts strain on the team when I am off. Do I stay off to look after him or leave him when his Gran as usual?

I deal with these days on a case by case basis.

If ds is likely to sleep all day or be happy in front of a film, I leave him with grandparents.

If he needs super cuddles or is actively vomiting, then I (or DH) would try be home with him.

It's a hard one, but at the end of the day I don't feel anyone, anywhere needs me as much as he does when he really needs me!
