Ny DD is 19 months and i am just wondering if she could wear sandal type shoes without socks. Her feet look still very gentle and i am afraid she will get blisters. In your experience what is the best age to do it, should i wait? Thanks

I never put sick and sandals in my dc's.
I have always bought the 'trekker' type ones (cheap from sainsburys) that have adjustable Velcro at the toes, heel and ankle.

HTH :)

Thanks motherofvikings, i though that those type will be ok to wear without a socks, probably should get her one of them. Her summer shoes are all sandal type, made of leather and toes are covered. Should have a look. Thanks

You could get her a pair of clarks doodles if they do them in her size. They are lovely and soft and you don't need socks with them. Also, you can wash them in the machine and they don't shrink.

Why would you not want them to wear socks? Shoes are quite uncomfy without socks - they'll get sweaty little feet and slip around in them. I always put socks on DCs, regardless of the shoes they are wearing - maybe I'm odd?!

Shoes/ trainers need socks.
Not sandals tho! Shock :)

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 27/06/2013 16:42

No - just buy her soft sandals and put them on for only a short while the first few times.

Only the british put socks on with sandals Grin

Thank you all, i will go shopping tomorrow and see what i can find. Her summer shoes are soft enough to wear with socks, but are still the supportive type and will be uncomfortable without socks. I guess they are good enough for the British summer, but in case it gets warmer we need something else.

Totally recommend startrite sandals as well. Got some lovely soft ones for ds (21mo) who is a 5F, from John Lewis. They're canvas, washable, and have a t bar strap and buckle so a bit more air can circulate than in trainers.

And I often put him in socks in those :) more comfy for his little feet. I was the same as you and couldn't bear the thought of those pudgy white soft feet getting blisters!
