Is this teething?

DD is only 12 1/2 weeks old. For the past few days she has suddenly started drooling like crazy! I didn't even know she had that much liquid in her body. We've been out & about, people have peeked in the pram and almost everyone has commented on the drool in an "oh she's teething" way.

I smiled and nodded, thinking she's too young and just being a lovely kind of gross.

However today she has been really fractious, literally either screaming, feeding or sleeping. It's horrible to see. I looked in her mouth and there's a pale looking but at the back that feels really hard. I have no idea what teething is supposed to look like or how she's supposed to behave either. I moved down here for uni, am too far away from DM to show her and none of my friends have kids!

So yeah, does this sound like teething? I thought the front teeth came first, and not for a while!

Sounds like it to me, my dd teethed from 8 weeks and only got her first teeth at 14 months - it can be a long drawn out process!

Even though you see white at the back I doubt it will break the gum for many months but it will be hurting her :( jelly teethers were all ds would take. bonjela for teething takes the edge of for them but there are biscuits/grains etc that are supposed to be good. Hope it doesn't last too long for her, ds is 19 months and getting his back teeth in he's in agony the poor soul.

Oh my, that's an awfully long time. Your poor DC!

I'm kind of like a fox in headlights here, I've given her some calpol but as far as teething toys/rings go I don't think she'll get them yet. She has a Sophie giraffe but it looks sooo big! I don't think she has any concept of what's going on other that it hurts, and obviously she's too young for any sort of food Sad.

Bugger. Off to the pharmacy for a miracle cure I go!

Very luckily for dd and me she teethed easily ds on the other hand is once in a blue moon but it's agony for him, he's never took to his sophie the wee bum :) I'm sure I read on here at one point cold water on a muslin then frozen for an hour can help to cool dc down especially inflammation. Hopefully the chemist has some good advice/magic tricks for you today it's awful seeing your dc in pain :(
