Carsick toddler

My 18mo keeps being sick in the car, and it's a nightmare to clean out of the crevices in the rear facing car seat. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have no warning of when it is coming. I really hope it's not because she's facing backwards, as we spent a fair bit on an ERF seat!

Fellow sufferer here, it's horrible, isn't it? DD tends to cough a bit, we sometimes get one gag and then she throws up everywhere. And then falls asleep, little madam She doesn't go in a car very often so at least we don't have to deal with it too much, thankfully. Where we can, we try and time journeys around possible naps.

Have you tried covering him up? DD now always wears one of those towelling, sleeved bibs you can get from the pound shop, and we put that on over the straps. She also has a towel over her legs which she is starting to accept and not throw off very often - I think she has learnt that being in the car means being wrapped up in a lot of towelling material!

Oh, and a towel underneath before you sit her down?

Sorry, 18mo too. Some journeys she's fine, some journeys it's projectile. Normally when we are in a friends car!

Is your seat rear facing or forward?

Forward facing now. I don't think it has made any difference.

Have you tried travel sickness wristbands? You can get them from Boots. Don't know if they make them small enough for 18 mo though.

Hello. Just reinstating this thread to see if you found anything that worked? I'm having exactly the same thing with my 15 month old, but it's started to happen regularly on the journey to nursery, which is down a winding lane. Of course, nursery are reluctant to take her because 1/ she smells of sick, and 2/ they have to be careful in case it's a bug. But the three times it's happened and I've taken a day off work, DD has been fine all day... Until the next car journey.

I had this with my 18mo too! she is nearly 2 now and it doesn't happen that much. erf too. not sure that is relevant.

what helps is not giving her too much milk before hard or too much breakfast or what ever. keeping the car cool.

I also have a towel where she can reach it and I get her to mop herself a bit. I dont bother stop unless there is a very long way to go as there is not much to be done. she has to sit in the car seat until we get there anyway.

also I save any fancy clothes to wear on arrival just in case.
