Cod - what is angry hands?

Hi cod - was reading LTH's thread and you mentioned teaching ds to use angry hands when frustrated, Can you tell me what this is so I may help 6 year old ds learn ways of managing his frustrations. Luckily not a huge issue at mo but would be helpful to know about.

cod explained it (sort of!) on that same thread.... but have to say wasnt sure what she meant..... DO A DIAGRAM PLEASE COD!

did she.. opps looked thro but couldnt see it at all. Must be blind. - will have another look

right so hands by the side and tensed then spread out fingers (still tensed) and keep doing that till less frustrated. Is that right or have it got it wrong?

not sure about the whole angry hands thing but I used to work at a centre that had children with anger management difficulties and some of the things we taught were

1. Giant breaths...breath in as deep as you can and then blow out loud and long, do this until feeling calm

1. Jump and shake...literally jump on the spot (can do star jumps or normal) and when you land shake out all the anger

1. Smash bag...a special bag (like a boxing bag) to pound out your anger

1. Mighty roar...similar to giant breaths but instead doing the biggest loudest roar you can to let the anger out

1. Paper squash...squash large peices of paper into tight balls using all your strength in your fists. We used this one when we were out and about as the others werent always appropriate
